Advent Devotion

Actually, that title is slightly misleading.  This is a post about the St. Andrew Christmas Novena, which does not necessarily begin on the first day of Advent. This devotion begins on the feast of St. Andrew (Nov. 30th) and continues to Christmas. The following prayer is to be prayed (with a specific intention in mind) 15 times a day, each day from the feast to Christmas.

St. Andrew Christmas Novena Prayer to Obtain Favors
Hail and blessed be the hour and moment in which the Son of God was born of the most pure Virgin Mary, at midnight, in Bethlehem, in piercing cold. In that hour, vouchsafe, O my God! to hear my prayer and grant my desires, through the merits of Our Saviour Jesus Christ, and of His Blessed Mother. Amen.

To me, this sounds like an impossible enormous commitment to discipline. It is. However, the power of the intercession of the Saints is real. They are able to beg at the throne of God on our behalf in a way that we cannot.

When praying with this devotion, we are to offer one specific intention.  That intention (whether it be a relationship, a big decision that must be made, a friend or family member who is sick, or anything at all that weighs upon your heart) will be offered up daily during this novena. God grants good favors to those who seek them.

Please prayerfully consider joining me in this devotion. (And if you just don't see the point, pray it anyway. God probably wants you to ;-)
