Bringing Others to Christ

"We do not draw people to Christ by loudly discrediting what they believe, by telling them how wrong they are and how right we are, but by showing them a light that is so lovely that they want with all their hearts to know the source of it." -Madeleine L'Engle's

I don't actually know who that is.  However, I do know that she has said at least one truth-filled and wise thing in her life.

The beauty of a Christian life lived well, in honest surrender to the will of God, which is nurtured through genuine prayer, speaks for itself.  When we live wholly surrendered, people are captivated by God's presence in our lives.  It is not that they are drawn to us. Rather, they are drawn to the source of the light they see radiating within.

This is a tough thing to live.  It does not require perfection.  However, it does require continual effort.  The kind of living that draws others to God is the manifestation of a heart that gives its best and rests constantly at the feet of Christ, begging His mercy for the times of failure.

In other words, we always have to try. When we make mistakes (big ones and small ones alike) we must ask for forgiveness and mercy.  When we live that way, though we will not be perfect, others will see God within us and be drawn to Him.
